So why isn't this getting wide coverage? Well, first, there's lots of evidence that Obama was born in the United States, and none that he wasn't. The campaign handed over an official copy of his short-form birth certificate — the standard document produced by the Hawaii Department of Health — to Factcheck.org. And Poliltico has confirmed the authenticity of a contemporaneous announcement of his birth in the Honolulu Advertiser.
So there you go, once and for all. Obama = American citizen. Spreading rumors like this is totally mean-spirited and unhealthy for our democracy. I wish that people like Pennsylvania lawyer Philip Berg, who continues to contend that Obama was born in Kenya, would combat Obama's success by organizing people around real issues rather than rumors.

the problem is that Obama refuses to produce the "vault" certificate = the birth certificate with the doctor's name, hospital etc. The vault certificate is the original document upon which the certificate posted on the net is based. The reason that this is of interest is that from 1911 to 1972 Hawaii would issue a birth certificate to anyone over the age of one years if their birth had not been previously registered. The birth certificate could be based upon the affidavit of the mother stating that the child was born at home. The problem is that Obama's Kenyan grandmother says he was born in Kenya and she witnessed his birth. If that is true, he is ineligible for the presidency (although still an american citizen). This failure to produce the "vault" certificate is leading to all sorts of speculation and Obama should put this thing to rest. There are approximately six lawsuits to get him off the ballot because of this. If god forbid, there is a problem after the election, he will be disqualified and biden will become vice president. i
